State laws in Massachusetts and Michigan now stipulate how pricing information shall be available to consumers, including the density of printers to provide hard copies for a customer's selected items. Michigan has already passed a law defining unfair and deceptive practices relative to price disclosure and the exemptions for electronic scanner systems.
The law stipulates:
- At least one scanner for every 5,000 square feet of selling-floor space.
- Certain information needs to be available to consumers. An example of this is price and individual price tags, which require a nearby printer.
- Compliance requirements for electronic scanners.
- Pricing presentations.
Other states are considering similar laws. Work with Direct Source today to fulfill your current store needs and prepare for future requirements.
